We are permanently close by, at your service whatever the weather. We provide reliable gritting when you need us with a low carbon footprint too.

Proactive and reactive gritting service

Our proactive service ensures that your site has a winter maintenance plan, which is necessary to ensure your business stays safe and open through the winter. Service is triggered based on the weather forecast for road conditions.

We apply salt before frost, ice, or snowfall forms. This activates the salt to prevent bonding with the road surface.

Fixed and pay-as-you-go contracts

We'll work with you to create the right package for your business and budget. 

Our fixed-price gritting and snow clearance contracts will protect you all winter, with unlimited callouts when the cold weather threshold is met.  

In warmer winters, with fewer callouts required, clients can benefit from a pay-per-visit service.  Our experts use automated technology to assess when gritting and snow clearance are required, just like in our fixed contracts. When a cold weather threshold is met, our local gritting teams are automatically sent out, with no callout required. Customers are then charged per visit, so if there is no frost, there is no cost.

Salt supplies and grit bin replenishment

Ground Control stores over 50,000 tonnes of salt stock for winter gritting, providing 20 days’ worth of salt stock at all of our depots. We have additional emergency salt stored across Ireland in the event of prolonged periods of cold or icy weather conditions.

We use locally sourced rock salt and white marine salt for our gritting operations and salt supplies. We can provide salt to customers in pallets of 25kg bags, one-tonne bags, or as loose salt.

Our grit bin replenishment service is available on a scheduled or on-demand basis. We'll inspect your grit bin during routine visits to your site and fill it with gritting salt as and when required.

Other winter gritting services we provide include self-service gritting equipment such as snow shovels.
