Green Apples and Gilt Awards for JLL and Ground Control
Last year, our partnership with JLL saw some prestigious award wins for environmental best practice and added value.
Accolades include two Yorkshire in Bloom Silver Gilt Awards and 14 Green Apple Environment Awards of various statuses for a number of sites including gold status for the White Building, Reading, and Merlin Park.
The two sites recognised for the Yorkshire in Bloom Silver Gilt Award are Clifton Moor Industrial Estate and York Business Park. Led by Contract Manager Andrew Church, both sites were recognised for innovative maintenance schemes that have been adapted to accommodate biodiversity enhancement practices.
The White Building, Reading is an example of one of the gold-status Green Apple Environmental Award-winning projects in the ‘Habitat & Biodiversity’ category for "Empowering Biodiversity on World Environmental Day." This was for a project, that took place on the roof gardens of the White Building on 5th June 2023; but highlights the positive use of outside space at the workplace all year round.
Led by Ground Control’s Jody Frampton and JLL’s facilities manager for the White Building Hannah Lewis, tenants were invited to build beautiful baskets to attract nature, in celebration of World Environment Day.
Aided with information sheets and materials provided by Ground Control, the tenants learned how to plant beautiful bee and bug-friendly pots and hanging baskets.
Wildflower seeds, bee bombs, and environmental pencils were given out as part of the World Environment Day celebrations and to help inspire tenants to use what they learned and encourage wildlife into their own outside spaces.
Jody Frampton, Ground Control Area Manager said:
