Find out what our customers have to say about Ground Control
A local team from Ground Control have recently spent a morning at our community allotments, in Melbourne, Chelmsford, taking down a rather large willow tunnel, which had grown out of hand. This was a project was a joint effort between Essex & Suffolk Water & Ground Control and one we could not have tackled ourselves!
I am so grateful for the help and hard work that Ground Control and ESW have provided to us. The difference the team made is incredible and, as I said, one that we would not have been able to achieve so quickly and thoroughly ourselves.
I really value the connection we have made with you and look forward to working together again in the future.
Carolin Rogers, Horticultural Facilitator, Wilderness Foundation
We have been working with Ground Control for just over a year & wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. As the busy head office of a Multi Academy Trust it is vital that our grounds are not only looked after but that the contract represents value for money. The team are always helpful & the online portal allows me to easily monitor what work has been carried out.
Ground Control have taken away what was previously an expensive headache.
Alison Austin, Operations Manager, Bedfordshire Schools Trust

The quality of the finish on this hard and soft landscaping scheme is absolutely superb. The contractor has embraced the design and created an amazing play and learning space for children, complete with a beautifully constructed oak tree circle walkway, meticulously installed play equipment, carefully sited rockery boulders, and a skilfully laid plethora of different surfacing including artificial grass, composite boarding, gravel pathways and safety surfacing. Every aspect, without exception, has been tackled with skill, precision and attention to detail. The planting scheme softens and enhances the hard elements and despite the garden’s popularity and consequent heavy use, seems to thrive in spite of the attention of many small hands and feel. This is landscaping at its very best and a worthy winner of this year’s BALI Grand Award.
BALI Judges Comments, British Association of Landscape Industries
We had a great morning with the team from Ground Control who did an excellent job of showing us all how to plant the trees and get ourselves organised.
The volunteers and employees from Arqiva really appreciated getting out in the fresh air for a few hours and making a real tangible difference. Initiatives like these really help to raise awareness and the importance of nature recovery and climate change at a practical level.

Storm Eunice presented some of the biggest challenges I’ve seen in my time at Southern Water – possibly in my entire career. On behalf of our company, our customers and the communities we serve, I want to thank you for the key role your team played in our response. Your work helped to ensure our services stood up to the sternest test at a time when our customers needed it most. One of our company values at Southern Water is ‘Succeeding Together’, and there can be no better demonstration of that than your support and partnership at such a difficult time. Thank you for going above and beyond for our customers and our environment.
Ian McAulay, Chief Executive Officer, Southern Water, in response to emergency tree works in the aftermath of UK storms

The perspective from the client side saw a vision of client/contractor design collaboration that was exceptionally strong with the tone being set early and effortlessly. The desire for mutual cooperation and success was clear from the outset. Whilst the concept design had been developed entirely in-house at RBG Kew, the transition to the contractor led technical design began at tender. Ground Control’s bid and interview brought suggestions and improvements for the scheme even before they had been appointed. This boded well! The handover of the design saw extensive and cohesive communication, with RBG Kew keen to ensure their concepts were delivered but listening and accepting enhancements brought by the excellent contractor team. The design quality control process was equally cooperative. The client design team remained fully engaged in detailed reviewing of technical submissions whilst Ground Control accepted comments and revisions to their work without resentment. The mutual trust allowed a collaboration was not only a project management dream, it led to an outstanding scheme that was delivered to an award-winning standard and opened for use to wide press coverage and public acclaim

The success of the Children’s Garden Project is a direct result of the excellent collaboration between Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and Ground Control. Ground Control was always willing to go the extra mile to fit in with Kew as a functioning, public garden, making changes, sometimes last minute, to accommodate various requests. Ground Control staff at all levels were friendly and approachable, with clear lines of communication maintained and regular meetings to discuss progress. Ground Control have been a pleasure to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
